Miss Emily Leek

Year 6 Teacher & UKS2 Phase Leader

I’m Miss Leek and I joined Waycroft Academy in 2019, previously to this I’d been teaching in one of our other MAT schools (Woodlands Academy) since 2014. Before Woodlands, I spent my time teaching at two different primary schools in South Gloucestershire, starting my teaching career in 2009. I trained to be a teacher in Manchester and was lucky enough to spend some of my time at university, teaching and studying in Boston, America.
I love teaching and watching children develop and grow into successful learners, enthused and hungry to improve their learning. I am committed to encouraging children to become more independent and self-sufficient; wherever possible, I want the pupils in my care to make choices about where their learning takes them.
In my spare time I very much enjoy running and have taken part in several half marathons. Running a full marathon is my next goal! I also like spending time with my friends and family and spend my holidays travelling.

Mrs Wright

Year 6 Teacher

I am Mrs Wright and I am excited to be working at Waycroft Academy. I have been teaching in South Bristol for over 20 years and love to learn new things about education and how we learn well. I believe everyone has the potential to be the best version of themselves and I feel privileged to be involved in that journey with my pupils. Although I was born here in Bristol, I grew up in South Africa and love sunshine and beautiful scenery. I play the guitar and have recently taken up running mostly due to the fact that I also love baking sweet treats! The local community is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time at the local library, pool and the many beautiful parks we have around us.
